Lady Maria

This sweet little face needed a new home so she has come to live with us. Her name is Maria (Cohen named her) and she is such a placid little thing!!

She has made herself at home on the sunroom couch after a very tiring exploration of the house.

It has been years since we owned a cat and to see the joy on the faces of the children when they saw her, was a great indication of a good decision!!

Stash Busting

I seem to have quite a few fabrics that tend to be overlooked whenever Im working on a project. Obviously when I brought them I liked them, yet they just seem to get left behind. In an attempt to try and make a dent in this part of my stash, Im using them for Modas Vintage Reserve Pattern:

Im aiming to sew one a day and have completed 8 of the required 32, plus there are heaps of Flying Geese units in the borders. I trying not to think too hard with this one, just use up the fabrics and hope for a good result!!!

It will make a great quilt to throw on the couch in the studio, for those cold nights when the kids come down to read to me or do homework or just have a chat.

I have finally relented and brought my own copy of the Civil War Diary Quilt after seeing so many wonderful blocks in blogland. Im not sure if I will ever make the quilt, I am far more intrigued with the diary entries of these 10 amazing women. Ive always had a fascination with that period of history since seeing Gone With The Wind when I was 10. Even today it remains my favorite all time movie!!........maybe Ill just try a few blocks!!

Ok after working long, straight days to finish Tender Moments, I have so much to catch up on.....emails, orders, blogs and housework!!!! So what did I do?? I played!!!:

The whole quote says.....Dont cry because its over, Smile because it happened.

There are 2 border panels to stitch as well, so the housework can wait!!! This, and a few others, have to be ready for the Craft Fair in June!!

My first order from the Fat Quarter shop came today:

Just another reason to leave the housework lol Im loving this International Shopping (ok, Im slow off the mark!!!) Cup of coffee, credit card in hand and time to browse!!! Im getting addicted!!!

Lastly I want to congratulate my sister and her partner............they are having a baby!!! Hugs to you both and good luck with your future!!! Now all I have to do is design a baby quilt!!!

Anne Ida kindly did some personal shopping for me and sent me these gorgeous Tilda fabrics.

This morning I finally finished my new BOM quilt top!! (Ill do the full reveal closer to the release date!!) Its all ready for the quilter next month and now I have the task of writing up all the patterns. But for a little while Im going to enjoy catching up on my blog reading, answering my emails and doing some neglected housework!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Today my man, my soul mate....turns 44!! I hope your day has been special babyl!! We love you soooooo much!!!

This man is soooo talented, so intellectual, so perfect. He has many passions.... he loves his family, to death...he loves to read, and he reads everything, his knowledge is remarkable!!... and he builds model railroads, which takes precision, attention to detail and....patience!!! Ok he did give up his train room so I could have a studio (hes a saint!!! and he thought he didnt want to do this anymore!!) but since then he has used a much smaller space to create a "little wonderland". His eye for detail amazes me and it thrills me to watch him work!!!..... his success with work is inspiring.......he is in demand, which can interupt the evening dinner (ok that happens with me too, sorry lol) or a 6am breakfast but we understand how important you are to Civil Engineering in Tas, so we forgive lol and we are proud!!!!

As a quilters husband........hmmm this man knows more than he should lol He knows when ive set in seams, he knows when ive mitred my borders, he knows how difficult circular seams are, hes understands PP and EPP, he picks great fabric, he can entertain kids "outside" a quilt shop, he gives advice when things r getting tooo busy and he knows..........this is what i love!!! His support and encouragement is amazing!!!

Baby, you make my life and the lives of our children sooooo special. We love you so much and wish you the greatest birthday!!!

"We walk this path together, today, tomorrow and forever" XXX

Blocks 5 and 6

I thought Id share a couple more blocks from my new BOM, Tender Moments. Here are a few sneak peaks from Blocks 5 and 6. I am currently working on Block 9 ( the last block!!!):

A sleeping kitten!!

A Hummingbird!!

There is a Star block and an Applique Block in each one. I have so many favorites, its hard to chose which ones to use!!

The Bee and the Berries!!

Notice the Grandmothers Fan, this was the first time I have attempted one but it was quick and easy and I think it looks lovely. Im going to try a Dresden Plate for Block 9.

Now the little Bunny in the Daffodils was my favorite until:

The sleeping Puppy (hes actually from Block 8 but I had to share!!)

Im way ahead of schedule on this one. Its due to be released at the Hobart Quilt and Craft Fair at the end of June (which is really exciting!!!) I have a few plans for borders and then its off to the quilters while I start writing the patterns....a huge job Im sure!!
